MR. REMI OLOWUDE

Chairman
Mr. Olowude, an Economist, Chartered Insurer and International investor, with a rich inter-disciplinary background. He is the Vice Chairman of Industrial and General Insurance Company Limited (IGI) and the Chairman of National Insurance Corporation of Uganda (NIC)

Mr. Olowude holds a Master Degree in Economics and has completed the coursework for the award of a Doctorate Degree from the University of Santa Clara, California, USA. He has deployed his international business expertise, professionalism and vision to build a conglomerate with interests in various business sectors spanning financial services, telecommunications, oil and gas, mortgage banking and aviation.


KANU UKONNE, MNSE

Managing Director
Kanu Ukonne, a chartered engineer came to IECL with a wealth of experience spanning over twenty seven years in various technical areas of the oil and gas industry. Kanu was educated both in England and Russia where respectively he obtained Bsc. (first class) and Msc. (with distinction) in Chemical and Petrochemical Engineering. He also holds an MBA from Lagos Business School and is presently working on a  Phd. Programme in Organisational Behaviour, Strategy and Negotiations.

Kanu Ukonne has extensive job experience as Refinery Engineer (Port Harcourt Refinery) where he rose to the position of chief engineer (crude and gas refining and processes). He later joined Total Nigeria Plc where he served at various times as ED, Technical Services, ED, Marketing and ED, Operations and currently as Permanent Board Member. He went on several international postings to the UK, France and some African countries. Kanu also sat for many years as Chairman coordinating oil and gas activities for all major marketers in Nigeria. Apart from his assignment as Managing Director, IECL, Ukonne is also the company's Chief Consultant for oil and gas in the East Central African countries of Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Democratic Republic of Congo.  Engineer Ukonne has supervised the construction of several storage depots in Nigeria and in some neighbouring African countries.

Kanu Ukonne speaks English and Russian languages fluently apart from two Nigerian language. He is also an active golfer.


MR. ROBERT OLU FAMUREWA

Executive Director (Upstream)
Mr. Famurewa is an Accountant and a Petroleum Economist with bias for Project Development/ Management & Project Financing. He worked for more than 20 years in oil and gas operations /project development and execution. He worked in  various managerial positions  with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) during this 20yr.+ tenure. He, however,  served longest in NAPIMS (National Petroleum Investment Management Services), a Division of NNPC,  charged with the responsibility of managing the Nigerian Government interest in the various Joint Ventures with the Oil  Majors in the Upstream Sector of the Nigerian Oil & Gas Industry.

While in NNPC, he worked on several oil related as well as gas related joint interest projects involving NNPC/ SHELL; NNPC/MOBIL PRODUCING;NNPC/NAOC; NNPC/CHEVRONTEXACO etc. Some of the projects are field development programs for the discovery of additional reserves and some for the enhancement of current crude oil production. The gas projects include   the Oso Condensate & Natural Gas Liquids ( NGL) Plant ; the first train of Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) and the two re-injection plants at Obiafu Obrikom and Kwake Okpai.

Mr. Famurewa, after retiring from NNPC, also worked for some International Oil and Gas Companies who were major players in the service sector of the Nigerian Industry. These companies were American and French based companies with their Corporate Offices in  Houston,TX. and Paris. The companies were Horizon Offshore Inc.; Willbros Inc.; and Mcdermott/ETPM. They were all involved in fabrication and installation of offshore and onshore production facilities.Some of the projects I facilitated were the Offshore and onshore aspects of the West African Gas Pipeline Project(WAGPP) between Nigeria, Benin Republic, Togo and  Ghana; Pipeline Burying/ Laying for ChevronTexaco; Power Plants in Israel etc.During his stay in these companies,he worked on other national/international contracts in the same capacity as Project Finance Manager.


MRS. CHINNY MARCEL-IHEKWEME

Executive Director (Trading)
Mrs. Chinny Marcel-Ihekweme a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka is the Executive Director in charge of Trading in Industrial Energy Company Limited. A Fellow of the Certified Institute of Shipping and a member of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping, she has many years of business experience in the manufacturing sector and oil and gas industry. She started a manufacturing outfit in which she grew to become the Managing Director, a position she held for 8 years before diversifying to the oil and gas industry.

Her business and management expertise spans from start-ups, early stage and high growth business environment, starting and building them up to have strong structural bases. In the Oil and Gas Industry she has helped to build up a number of businesses, putting their structure in place, developing their market, building a strong client base, deploying her expertise in negotiation, product procurement, importation and  deliveries, marine operations and logistics, recruitment and organizational management.

Her vast knowledge of the oil and gas industry stems from a strong background based on various training and courses she has attended. Some of these include;

  • Introduction to Shipping and Intermediary to Shipping, both from the Chamber of Shipping.
  • Introduction to Petroleum Refinery Processing and Bitumen Upgrading  and Energy Trading and Hedging, both from the Petroleum Engineering Institute of Continuing Education in Houston, Texas, USA.
  • Alumnus Lagos Business School, Lagos.

Mrs. Marcel-Ihekweme is a seasoned and strong business woman and her vast years of management experience, expertise and professionalism has contributed immensely to the growth of Industrial Energy Company Limited.



MR. AYODEJI FAGBURE

Executive Director (Downstream Marketing)
Ayodeji Fagbure, an Economics graduate of the University of Ibadan, has been involved with projects implementation since he served as Secretary to the Kaduna State Plan Implementation Committee during his National Corp Service days. He thereafter joined the UAC Of Nigeria, where he rose to the position of Product Group Manager. Ayodeji  subsequently  joined the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, a division of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (PPMC/NNPC) in 1979.  Ayodeji served in various capacities and eventually became the Chief Marketing Officer and Head of the Offshore Processing Department of PPMC, the position he held until his voluntary retirement.

While at the PPMC, Ayodeji attended several professional training courses both locally and overseas including practical work attachment programmes with Elf Aquitane in France (Refinery Operations), Texaco Inc., Houston (Crude Oil and Products Market Operations), Petrobras, Rio De Janeiro, Brasil (Products Distribution Methods).  He is also an alumnus of the Lagos Business School.  Ayodeji as a Senior Marketing operative at PPMC, had a close work relationship with all strategic product storage depots of the NNPC. His assignment was a source of vast and invaluable experience in petroleum storage depot operations and products distribution. This provided a good foundation for his  subsequent Oil and Gas consultancy and brokerage business.

Mr. Fagbure came with a wealth of  oil and gas experience spanning over two decades to join the IECL team as Executive Director (Downstream). He has since made tremendous impact on the downstream marketing activities of IECL, supervising the acquisition and repositioning of several of the company retail outlets.


MR. WALE F. LAWAL

Business Development
Adewale F. Lawal obtained a B.Sc Honors degree in Industrial Chemistry from Texas Southern University, Houston, Texas and an MBA degree in Business Management from Prairie View A & M University, Prairie View, Texas.

He started his chemical career in the United States of America as a research technician with Exxon Research and Engineering Company, Baytown, Texas where he was involved with various phases of the enhanced/tertiary oil recovery and synthetic petroleum sulfonates (surfactants) research. He implemented different procedures to identify and evaluate (such as phase behavior studies) new synthetic sulfonates surfactants.

Mr. Lawal later joined the services of Keystone Environmental Laboratories and Southern Petroleum Environmental Laboratories as an atomic absorption spectroscopist and an environmental chemist respectively where he performed analytical tests using purge and trap USEPA( United States Environmental Protection Agency) test method 8021 and 602 to determine volatile organic compounds such as Benzene,Toluene,Ethyl Benzene, Xylenes and chlorobenzenes in a variety of liquid and solid waste matrices using Gas Chromatograph.

He worked with OPE International L.P (Houston, Texas)/ OOPE Nigeria Ltd on Shell-Bonga Field Development Pipeline (Internal Lining High Density Polyethylene services) in Nigeria as an Administrative/Project Manager. He led and coordinated the activities of the local personnel in the fusing of HDPE liners (12"  and 16" into double joints pipes). He managed the importation of permanent materials for the liner installation phase into Nigeria and interfaced with Stolt Offshore personnel (project contractor) in the transportation and receipt of materials from commercial shipment to Stolt Offshore construction/fabrication yard in Apapa, Lagos Nigeria.

After the successful completion of the Bonga Project, he worked briefly for SRM Global Services Nigeria Limited as a General Manager, Business Development. He led the marketing and business development activities of SRM Global Services and her affiliated companies in Nigeria. He provided representational support to SRM Global Services in all governmental and private industry business development meetings in Nigeria and overseas.

While with A & L Underground (Nigeria) Ltd, a subsidiary of IGI Group of companies, Mr. Lawal underwent extensive training programs in A & L Underground offices in Arkansas, Texas and Tennessee in United States of America in gas distribution systems, including service line pipe installation, horizontal directional drilling technology for line pipe construction under rivers, lakes, roads, buildings, railroad tracks and through congestion areas.
